Leadership
Meet The Captains who keep Pioneers on lock. They’re the ones fueling every event with pure hustle, orchestrating all the programming, and straight-up living the PRC mission. Their passion keeps the crew moving and the city vibing—one run at a time.
Sidney Baptista
Founder
Born and raised in Boston, MA, Sidney is the visionary leader of PIONEERS Run Crew. Sid was inspired to create PRC after a visit to Washington D.C. where he was introduced to District Running Collective, one of the OG Black-led running communities in the country. Sid continues to travel the world meeting different running communities, always bringing a little bit of each encounter home to PRC. In addition to setting the vision of PRC, Sid is focused on building PYNRS Performance Streetwear, the first Black Owned performance running apparel company in the country.
Aliese Lash
Captain (Event Organizer, Partnership Manager)
Originally from VA, Aliese moved to Boston in 2016 to pursue her Masters of Social Work from Boston College and has proudly settled roots in the city with her husband and daughter. Although her dad is a track & field coach and she has been running her whole life, Aliese credits her connection to PIONEERS as the source of accountability and support that has motivated her to try new distances and events. She is passionate about redefining what health and wellness can look and feel like for BIPOC folks and loves to motivate others to trust their potential and lean on community. Aliese loves hosting events, being a connector, and building relationships and sees every PRC weekly run and signature event as a vibe, a memory, a party.
Barak Soreff
Captain (Event Organizer, Route Master, & Logistics)
Barak has been living in Boston since 2010. He loves showing off the city and all of its vibrant neighborhoods to highlight the layered and complex stories that each of them has to tell. Dubbed the “Route Master” he wants to keep Boston on the map, both figuratively and literally, as he plots out where the crew will run for each Wednesday night meetup, special event, and race (he apologizes in advance for the hills!). Barak is also a founder of The 26.TRUE Marathon, a special event that provides participants with an opportunity to tour Boston on foot and celebrate all of the city’s diverse spaces and faces.
Frances Ramirez
Captain ( Photographer, Social Media Associate & Heylo Supervisor)
Born and raised in Boston, MA, Frances is not only the co-founder of TrailblazHer Run Co, an all-women run club, but also the dedicated team photographer for PIONEERS Run Crew. Driven by her passion for the community, Frances makes sure everyone is captured in their moment of shine. Her commitment to photography is rooted in a desire to highlight the vibrant energy and unique stories of each individual, ensuring they are seen and celebrated.
Jessica Gimbel
Captain (Crewzer Manager, Coach)
Jessica has lived in Greater Boston since 2016. She started running regularly around 2010 while looking for friends and never stopped. She hopes to share the sense of community and connection that running has brought her with people from all paths of life. Jessica firmly believes in a balanced, practical approach to the sport. She encourages runners to pay attention to their physical and mental well-being as they chase their goals, and insists on celebrating every effort.
Jeremy Guevera
Captain (Marketing, Design & Social Media Manager)
Born & raised in Boston, MA, Jeremy was recruited to PRC via a cold email in 2017. Former Marketing executive, now full time touring DJ, Jeremy likes to take in his travel destinations with runs. Jeremy values inclusivity and encouraging those who don’t believe they can run to get after it.
Sharon Lee
Captain (Event Organizer, Partnership Manager, Logistics)
Born in Hong Kong, Sharon has lived in and around Boston much of her life. She grew up running track, but didn't start to run regularly until 2010. Sharon spotted a few PIONEERS running down Dot Ave one cold November night in 2019, looked up crew runs on Insta, and just started showing up. As a public health professional, Sharon is dedicated to building community and advancing health and well-being in the built environment. She incorporates these values through run-explorations when traveling and in her own neighborhood.
Imani Graham
Captain (Community Outreach & Social Media Associate):
Although born and raised in Boston, MA, Imani attended schools outside the greater Boston area and early on recognized the importance of equal access to resources and opportunities. As a queer woman of color navigating life through fitness and health, she is committed to helping others see the power in movement and to understand that it is never “too late” to start any journey. With a diverse sports background, she, like many others, sought ways to stay active in adulthood and discovered long-distance running in 2014. Three years later, she continued this journey with PIONEERS in 2017 and has been an active member of the community ever since. Appreciating the strength found in community and activity, she is grateful for the family and friends she has gained through these connections and encourages everyone to join and embrace and share their unique experiences and perspectives.
